About the project:

“Prozession” begins with the distant sounds of bass- marimba, human voice, rubbing on a frame drum and clear flute tones. The three musicians play the “Introduzione”, composed especially for this concert, as they move through the sacred place on their way from the chancel to the nave.

This very special procession ventures into varying domains of sound and rhythm as it progresses via “Melotrans” to “Danza del tempo”: The room is flooded by sparkling marimba runs, floating synthesizer harmonies reminiscent of choral works and cascading flute tones – rolls of thunder from the drum set and hand drum, bass runs on the modulating tambourine and the sub-contra bass flute’s percussive articulation hold the audience spellbound – these sounds evoke a train journey, snatches of Indian drum language, rhythmic patterns from Morocco or Bulgaria and conjure up connections with distant worlds.

At the end of their performance the musicians move back slowly towards the choir stall in the apse, in close communion with the hand drum, flute and finger cymbals. The procession has returned to its point of origin.
